Get ready for road toll

All trucks weighing 12 tons and above must pay toll based on the distance they travel and the amount of CO2 they emit. Read about the scheme here.

Brobizz has two products that can handle the payment of road toll. Our Toll Box and our Toll App.

Your Toll Box or Toll App must light up green

Ensure that the Toll Box or Toll App lights up green before you drive. If the Toll Box or Toll App lights up red during a trip, you should pull over at the next safe place and try to resolve the issue, as you risk getting a fine otherwise.

Make sure that the Toll Box is always correctly mounted to the power supply. If the Toll Box gives a warning that the battery level is low, it is important that you respond and restore the power supply.

Outages in the GPS signal, which make the light on the Toll Box switch from green to red, do not incur fines, as the toll system automatically compensates for short-term outages.

If the GPS signal is lost for more than an hour and the Toll Box lights up red, you must respond by pulling over at the next safe place.

Try to resolve the issue or purchase a toll ticket before continuing the trip.

Where should you pay road toll?

The majority of the national road network and parts of the municipal road network will be covered. This means that the new rules will apply to a total of approximately 10,900 kilometers. These kilometers will be distributed in road segments spread across Denmark.

It is estimated that these 10,900 kilometers account for approximately 75 percent of the total number of kilometers driven by trucks.

The map below shows the roads that are covered.

You can also see the Danish Road Directorate's map of roads with road tolls.

NOTE

It is the allowed gross weight of the truck will help determine how much you will have to pay in road tolls. Read more at vejafgifter.dk

How much does it cost?

The price for each individual truck depends on the weight class, the CO2 emissions class in which the truck is classified, and the route taken.

The CO2 emission class for Danish vehicles can be found in the Motor Register. Read more about CO2 emissions class.

When you order a Toll Box, you need to enter the CO2 emission class for Danish vehicles yourself if Brobizz can't obtain this information from the Danish Motor Register.

For vehicles from countries other than Denmark, it is a requirement to state the vehicle's CO2 class and allowed gross weight when you order Toll Boxes.

The different rates

There will be two different rates. One rate for each emissions class in the environmental zones and one rate for each emissions class on the rest of the road network. The rate in the environmental zones is 50% higher than the rate on the rest of the road network. Lead more about the Low emission zones.

Please note that there may be changes, so we recommend that you stay updated on vejafgifter.dk for the specific prices.

Control is carried out in the following way

Road toll are responsible for the control.
There are both fixed and flexible control points along the road network. They are strategically placed depending on the volume of traffic.
If you drive on the toll road network without an active box or app, you will receive a fine from the Danish Road Safety and Transport Agency. For more information, visit vejafgifter.dk.

The rules are the same for both Danish and foreign vehicles.

How is the fee collected?

Vejafgifter (Road Toll) is responsible for setting prices and the actual collection.

Brobizz collects GPS data for one day at a time per box or app, and this data is sent to Vejafgifter. Based on this data, Vejafgifter calculates the total price for road tolls per day. They send this information back to Brobizz, and then we will invoice you.
