Pitfalls that are often the cause of a fine
The power plug is connected to a power splitter with too low voltage
If the power plug is connected to a HUB with multiple devices, the battery level may drop too low, preventing the box from charging steadily. The power plug can also become dislodged, causing the connection to the truck’s power supply to be lost. To prevent this, always connect the box directly to the truck's power supply and not through HUBs or power splitters.
Incorrect wiring during fixed installation
If the signal cable and power cable are swapped, the box cannot charge properly. Make sure the cables are installed correctly according to the installation guide. This ensures that the box works optimally. See the installation guide here.
Connection to an unstable power source
If the power cable is connected to an unstable power group with a risk of short circuits or power surges, this can cause fuses to blow, and the box will stop charging. To avoid this, connect the box to a stable power group capable of supplying sufficient power without risk of failure.
The box is not correctly mounted in the holder
If the box is not clicked correctly into the holder, is mounted without cable clips, or if the power plug is facing the wrong direction, the box may lose connection or show a red light. To ensure proper functioning, the box must be fully clicked into the holder, mounted with cable clips, and the power plug should face the correct direction with the arrow pointing outwards. See the installation guide here.
Check this before you drive
Below, we have compiled some good advice to help you avoid errors and ensure the stable operation of your box:
- Check that the charging icon (+) is displayed in the top-right corner of the box display. This indicates that the power supply is working correctly.
- We recommend connecting the box to a fixed power source in the truck.
- Only start a journey if the box displays a green light.
- Check that the box is mounted on the windshield so that the display and LEDs on the box are visible.
- If the box shows a red light during a journey, pull over at the next safe location and check the issue.
Typical causes for the box displaying a red light at startup
- Vehicle data, language, etc., has not been confirmed on the box itself. You can do this by pressing the green checkmark until the box displays a green light.
- The box is missing vehicle data. You can add the missing vehicle data via Brobizz’ self-service, after which you must confirm it on the box as in point 1.
- The box is blocked and should not be used for driving until it is unblocked.
- The Toll Box can display various error codes on the display. You can find a description of the error codes and solutions here.
If it is an issue that cannot be resolved immediately, you can purchase a toll ticket at Vejafgifter.dk until your box displays a green light again.
We will contact you in case of a red box or low power
If your box has been operating with a red light or has warned of a low battery, we will send a notification email the following day.
Additionally, we send a notification email when the Toll Box has appeared on the low-battery list, and the daily contact person has been notified by email, but there has still been no activity on the box. The notification email is only sent if the box is not blocked, closed, or has had no activity in Denmark.
If you still receive a fine
If you receive a fine, you can contact customer service, who can investigate the matter further. Customer service can check the status of the box via an event log file from the time of travel. You can read about handling toll fines here.
